Explore the science in detail
When you think and process information, your brain creates small electrical signals that can be measured by an EEG sensor on the surface of your head. This provides insights into how focused, relaxed or intensely you are concentrating. EEG is completely safe. It does not send any signals to your brain. It simply detects the activity your brain is creating.
Heart rate variability
A measure of the small changes in time between each heartbeat. It's not about how fast or slow your heart beats but about the natural variations in the intervals between those beats. Less variation indicates you are more fatigued or stressed. Pylot measures HRV using an optical sensor on your forehead. This is similar to the optical sensor in a smartwatch.
It took us long enough
Also known as "being in the zone," flow is the feeling you get when you're completely absorbed and focused on your work. This state is associated with high alpha brain wave activity and leads to you achieving your best work.
Extended periods of intense concentration can result in cognitive fatigued. This makes it harder to focus, and the quality of your work deteriorates. This is associated with a change in brain wave activity and reduced heart rate variability.
